Preggo Roundup- Week 28

          image

                                               Hello 3rd Trimester!!!!

How far along: 28 weeks

Baby’s size: Baby is the size of a head of cauliflower. 16 inches and weighing in at 2.5 pounds!

Baby developments: Baby is now developing “white fat” which actually serves as an energy source and explains why he’s moving around like a crazy person.

My bump: is slowly growing again. I actually outgrew one of my maternity shirts already. sheesh.

Maternity clothes: My wardrobe is now 1/2 maternity clothes 1/2 husbands T shirts and sweat pants.

Sleep: although I was still able to get a full nights rest most nights this week I wake up frequently and am terribly uncomfortable. Uh oh.

Food cravings: Nothing specific, we’ll see if the cravings come back!

Food aversions: Also nothing specific, hopefully I’m done with the food aversions.

Symptoms I have: I’m calling the chiropractor this week, hopefully I can get an appointment before we leave for vacation on Wednesday!

Movement: Still one of the best feelings ever! The books say around this time I should start to feel more “forceful” kicks. I hope so!

Maternity/baby purchases: Nothing new. Saving up for the big stuff!

What I’m looking forward to: Going to California in 3 days!

What I miss: Being able to sit up and stand up without someone (Kyle) lending me a hand.

Emotions: Still feeling good. I had a little emotional meltdown this week while Kyle was out of town. Luckily my best friend Dawn lives right down the road and is always ready to come over (with a frosty, which helps all problems). She’s the best!

Best moment of the week: Started to paint the nursery! It’s not done yet but so far I love it! I can’t wait to post before and after pictures of the room.

Next doctor’s appointment: Tomorrow morning. Since I’m in my 3rd trimester I have an appointment every 2 weeks instead of 4.

Forest Falls, CA. A few summers ago.

We’re trying to wrap up some last minute projects (ahem…painting the nursery!) before we leave for vacation next week. Can’t wait to see my family, feel the lovely dry heat, drink some cactus cooler and sit on the beach with a good book!

Preggo Roundup- Week 27

I decide to switch back to the old questionnaire because it’s just more fun :)

How far along: 27 weeks

Baby’s size: cucumber. Wasn’t he a spaghetti squash a few weeks ago? Aren’t cucumbers smaller then spaghetti squashes? At any rate, he is 15 inches long and about 2.2 pounds

Baby developments: Baby can now blink, cough and is practicing “intense” sucking/breathing…I’m not sure what that means but the books tell me it’s good!

My bump: Is getting a lot of stares now a days. I don’t mind it too much. My bump is now so prominent that I can understand how people look at it first before they actually look at my face.

Maternity clothes: Are pretty much all I’m wearing now, besides my trusty old Gap leggings (best.leggings.ever).

Sleep: Wasn’t as easy this week. I’m hoping to find a comfortable position that I can rely on soon.

Food cravings: Nothing specific lately, my good friend Rachel had me try a new sushi (I know I know…not allowed) I think it was called dragon roll. Now all I want is sushi sushi sushi.

Food aversions: I tried brussel sprouts for the first time in my life this week. They will be a food aversion for the rest of my life.

Symptoms I have: I’m still getting some heartburn late at night…like when I think it’s a good idea to have a piece of pizza right before bed (idiot). Also my lower back is killing me. I just took a prenatal yoga* class that will hopefully help with the back pain.

Movement: This baby is a MOVER. He’s constantly moving around and my doctor said that a moving baby is a very good sign of a healthy baby. Score!

Maternity/baby purchases: Haven’t purchased anything new this week. We were given a TON of baby clothes, a baby swing and a BabyBjorn. SCORE! I am so thankful for all of the hand me downs and I had a blast going through everything and running downstairs to show Kyle how TINY all the clothes are.

What I’m looking forward to: A prenatal massage in my not so distant future.

What I miss: Although I love the maternity bathing suit I have, I kind of miss wearing a normal person bathing suit; they’re just a lot easier to get on and off.

Emotions: Still feeling mostly happy and content. Every once in a while I’ll feel some anxiety about this or that but in general I have peace about what’s to come. PTL.

Best moment of the week: Taking the Glucose Test. This wasn’t the best moment of the week but it was surprisingly a good experience. Up until taking the test I was dreading it because women were telling me the glucose drink they make you chug beforehand is disgusting.  Also, I had been reading up on the test and a lot of women opt out of taking it because there are mixed reviews about it’s reliability/diagnoses accuracy and importance. I decided to take it just because my doctor recommended it and I thought it would give me piece of mind. Well to my complete surprise I LOVED the glucose drink. The blood lab that I go to has the sweetest southern lady and she told me “I only keep the good flavor (fruit punch) and I keep it chilled so it’s easier to drink”. Well it tasted like I had just scooped myself a cup full of fruit punch from a party bowl. Yum and Whew!

Next doctor’s appointment: Early next week before we leave for CALIFORNIA!! The doctor’s office wants to see me every TWO weeks now which I’m totally ok with…I love my doctors!

*You might be thinking “But you said you hated yoga!” Well I’ve been reformed. Taking a class with a FRIEND where I can do ALL the moves and where the instructor is NORMAL has helped me appreciate and enjoy yoga!

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

Baby’s size: Baby boy is the size of a large zucchini, still weighing in at around 2 pounds.

Baby developments: Baby’s immune system is rapidly developing. Also baby’s taste buds are now fully developed (with more taste buds than he will ever have outside of the womb actually).

How I’ve been feeling I’ve been feeling great. Sleep is starting to get uncomfortable and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep on my stomach* that much longer. Eeeps! I’ve had a few days this week when I was just exhausted all day. My job requires me to stand on my feet the whole time so on some days at the end of my shift I feel like I could collapse into bed and not move for days!

What’s new this weekThis week I got a huge load of baby clothes and goodies from my friend Nicole (thanks Nicole!) It was so much fun to go through everything and visualize dressing up my kid in these clothes! Also this week we worked on getting the nursery ready to paint; can’t wait to get started!

What I’ve been day dreaming about: I’ve been day dreaming about vacation. I’m so looking forward to relaxing with Kyle and enjoying time together after such a busy (but fun) season AND before an even BUSIER season to come!

*for those of you that thought I was crushing the baby for comfort, I don’t actually sleep on my stomach. It’s more of a one leg thrown out to the side modified version of stomach sleep.

Wedding Dress

       image

Aaaahhh wedding dresses. I love wedding dresses*. And I love love LOVE my wedding dress.  I got it out from storage (aka my parents’ den closet) and decided to try it on a few weeks ago. To my complete surprise I was able to zip it up past my stomach…which I was still able to semi suck in at that point…but still! I was not, however, able to zip it up past my chest, but I’m totally ok with THAT pregnancy “problem”.

Anyway, I finally boxed it up today. I can’t wait to break it out again in a year or two** when I will have the amazing party that I’ve been dreaming of since I got MARRIED; when all us ladies who have kept our dresses get together for an elegant tea party so we can wear them again, have our make up and hair done and have a fancy photographer capture the whole thing so we have photos to prove that we still fit into our dresses AND that we found another occasion to wear them thus disproving the “you only wear it once” argument AND that we looked phenom doing it. BAM BAM BAM.

So until that day, good bye my sweet wedding dress love!

I used unbleached muslin to wrap my dress in a lined box. I decided to go the DIY route as wedding dress preservationists charges are murder.

until next time…

*Our netflix account can vouch for this as I have watched every single episode of Say Yes To The Dress that’s on there.

**date completely dependent on how well I stick to a post baby weight shedding plan.

Preggo Roundup- Week 25

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

Baby’s size: Baby boy is the size of an eggplant. Speaking of eggplant, I’ve been making a lot of this recipe recently and YUM.

Baby developments: Baby’s eyes are beginning to open (not that the view in there is very exciting)! Also this week baby’s brain-wave activity is developed. He is about 9 inches long and weighing in at around 2 pounds.

How I’ve been feeling So. Very. Good. I slept awesome this week. I’ve been having some back pain but that’s nothing new. If it gets worse as the pregnancy progresses I will go to a chiropractor or go get a massage. MMMmmm.

What’s new this weekBaby shower invites have been made and sent out! We picked paint colors for the nursery!! We finished registering! Lots of fun things happening this week. I will share my design for the invites on here sometime this next week. Also, I will be sharing photos of the nursery as it progresses but since all we’ve really done so far is…well, nothing, there’s not much to share yet!

What I’ve been day dreaming aboutbaby names, house projects, garden projects, business ideas, getting my haircut/colored (hopefully soon!)

If I wasn’t in the midst of packing for our road trip this weekend, looking at a CAR to buy, a maniac attention hogging cat and a serious dose of pregnancy fatigue I would have put up a Preggo Round Up for today.
Look for one tomorrow and have a happy looong weekend!

Spring Blossoms

I wish our Magnolia tree blossoms would stick around for the whole summer. They are here for one week of blazing glory and then they’re gone.

Preggo Roundup- Week 24

        image

I am a full 6 MONTHS pregnant. WHOA. Time flies. The first trimester is just a waiting game; waiting to stop feeling sick. waiting to start showing. Now I’m more than halfway through the pregnancy and I want to stop time.

How Far Along: 24 Weeks … 6 months!

Baby’s size: Baby is the size of an ear of corn. How appropriate for summer!

Baby developments: Baby’s face is almost fully formed. All that’s lacking is some fat which baby will start to build up in the next few weeks (chub for those chubby cheeks)

How I’ve been feeling I felt very good this week. I am still sleeping well but I foresee some changes in the near future. I might need to invest in one of those gigantic pregnancy pillows!

What’s new this weekStarted working on my baby shower invites! My mom and friends are throwing me a shower but I am designing the invites because I love designing invitations and it’s WAY cheaper than ordering them.

Also I took my first yoga AND Zumba classes this week. Here are my thoughts:

Yoga-  A bizarre experience in which I was confused about a lot of vocabulary used by the instructor (Asana? Lotus? Glossy? Vinyasa?) and couldn’t do half of the moves because of my preggo belly. I respect how challenging it was but in the end I felt it wasn’t for me.

Zumba- Holy crap I loved it. Why have I not taken a Zumba class until now?!

What I’ve been day dreaming aboutLots of things- How I’ll be as a mom, a little garden elf who weeds my garden for me and plants flowers, tacos, being in a band, taking a cooking class and as always….baby!

Have a great weekend!
